Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is a sports and party game in the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series that was released in June 2016 for the Wii U globally. It was developed by Sega, with assistance from Arzest and Spike Chunsoft, and published by Nintendo. The game is a compilation of minigames with Olympic sports themes that feature figures from the Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game also allows you to use a previously created Mii character in-game. All returning characters from prior games are playable in all events in the Wii U version of the game, whereas new playable characters (called as “guests” in-game) are only playable in one. When it was released, the game garnered mainly mixed reviews.
