Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is a Wii U crossover sports/party game. It is the first Mario & Sonic game to be released on the Wii U, the fourth installment in the Mario & Sonic series, and the official video game of the 2014 Winter Olympics, which were hosted in Sochi, Russia.
It is the first game in the series to have an online multiplayer mode, and unlike earlier installments, this one was only available on home consoles; a portable version was not included. Critics gave the game mixed reviews; while praising the graphics, multiplayer, and addition of online play, they also criticized the controls and the lack of originality from the series’ earlier titles.
