Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is a Mario Tennis video game developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. Players select one of 16 playable characters and decide whether to compete in 1-on-1 matches or 2-on-2 matches before beginning a standard match, known as Mega Battle. Critics gave the game varying ratings; some thought it was inferior to earlier installments due to the lack of new modes, its presentation, its character roster, and its apparent lack of creativity, while others appreciated the aesthetics, controls, and multiplayer.
