Monster Hunter 3 is the third console installment in the Monster Hunter series, created by Capcom for the Wii. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is a Wii U and Nintendo 3DS game. In Monster Hunter 3, players assume the position of a hunter from the hunting Guild who has been tasked with assisting Moga Village, a small fishing village that is threatened by monsters from a nearby abandoned island. The player accomplishes this by participating in free hunts on the island, where they gather resources and kill or capture monsters that can be turned into components for developing the village. Monster Hunter on the Wii and Wii U includes an online component that allows up to four players to go on new quests together. According to the video game review aggregator Metacritic, both the game and the Ultimate versions have earned favorable reviews across all platforms.
