Bandai Namco Entertainment created the fighting game Pokkén Tournament. Characters from the Pokémon franchise are combined with action from Bandai Namco’s Tekken series and other fighting games, including 3D and 2D movement. It was released for the Wii U gaming system. With gameplay alternating between “Field Phase,” in which the Pokémon move freely around the arena, similar to Power Stone and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, and “Duel Phase,” in which they move in relation to one another, similar to the Tekken games, Pokkén Tournament pits two fighters against one another while using a variety of Pokémon. The game’s first-print Wii U copies included with a Shadow Mewtwo Amiibo card, which instantly unlocked the character for play.
