The Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the 2012 film of the same name inspired The Amazing Spider-Man, an open-world video game. It was created by Beenox, and Activision released it. The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition, the Wii U version, was published on March 5 in North America and March 8 in Europe. It has every piece of downloadable content pre-installed on the disc, completely different from the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC editions. The Osphone on the Wii U Gamepad is another option for the game’s player. After its release, the game earned generally positive to mixed reviews from critics. Its gameplay, controls, combat, dark tone, intensity, and the soundtrack received praise, however, its difficulty setting, plot, aesthetics, repetitive side missions, and lack of creativity received criticism.
